Inside the Machine: Pacemaker wearers could soon be looking at a new world: the inside of an MRI machine. Individuals implanted with pacemakers and defibrillators typically aren’t been able to get magnetic resonance imaging because of the fear that the MRI will interfere with the heart devices, but the WSJ reports that Johns Hopkins’ researchers are trying to fix that program by reprogramming the devices before and after the scans.

Drug Interaction: After so much recent good news about the strides made in the prevention of HIV comes an alarming new study that suggests that a popular contraceptive used in Africa, Pfizer’s Depo-Provera, appears to double the risk that a woman will become infected with HIV, according to the NY Times.

Diaper Rash Spike?: The country’s economic woes are so bad that consumers are cutting back on buying diapers, which some economics say is an unprecedented trend, reports the WSJ. What does this mean for the babies? Some pediatricians say they’re seeing an increase in diaper rash, and the longer a baby sits with a soiled diaper on, the higher the risk for infection.
